Ramesh Chandwani, Managing Director

Ramesh has over thirty-five years experience in Aerospace, Defence, Nuclear and Offshore engineering. He is currently leading the company’s development of engineering simulation techniques and evaluation (fracture mechanics-based) of the residual life of components, life extension and forensic studies.

As the founding-owner of Zentech in 1980, he has steered the research and development of much of the company's software, notably Zencrack - a state-of-the-art tool for 3D fracture mechanics simulation. Consultancy projects include:

• DISPLACE - a TSB-funded development of 'technology to increase the life & reliability of advanced lightweight Ni-based gas turbine discs'... 'achieved by developing a new understanding of the degradation of the material in the operating environment and developing solutions' that will enhance the component operating life.
• forensic analyses to determine the cause of failure of components
• development & optimisation of the design of new components to assess and enhance the residual life of components
• a 3-year project funded by Wright Patterson Research Station at Dayton, Ohio to develop a true-3D fatigue crack propagation FE software facility in conjunction with Zencrack
• the design of offshore platforms, pipelines, risers and umbilicals for deep-water applications

Ramesh and his team of engineers have presented a number of technical papers on some of these R&D projects at international conferences.

Ramesh is a Chartered Engineer, a Registered Subsea Engineer, a member of IMAREST, a Fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers and of the Society of Underwater Technology, UK. He graduated from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, India and did his post-graduate studies at the University of British Columbia, Canada.
